Apple fitness plus not working on Apple TV

SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE OF A RESET!!! Definitely try signing out of iCloud on the Apple TV and then back in!! I was having this issue today, and was scrolling this thread, desperately hoping I did not have to factory reset my device. I saw one user suggest ensuring that the Apple TV has a “room” assigned in the home kit.. I realized I didn’t have that set up and tried that first. Moments later, I realized my Apple TV wouldn’t even connect to my phone, so I couldn’t set up the home kit. I scrolled more, and saw the iCloud sign out suggestion - this fixed both of my issues!! I can use Apple Fitness+ now AND my phone will connect and allow me to setup home kit!

Do you see the fitness App? In my case I didn't see it on a new Apple TV, went to Settings and then System then Software Updates and finally Update Software. I was on tvOS 14.2 and once I upgraded to tvOS 14.3 the Fitness app showed up (Icon looks like all three rings closed)

From there I can start an workout and it asks to connect to my watch.

I’ve restarted my phone, watch and Apple TV’s multiple times. Nothing worked.

As for the Home options, I use HomePods, too and have everything properly setup (that is, each Apple TV is named and assigned to separate rooms).

I was able to connect with no problem the first time I used it, then I had issues using Fitness+ with my iPhone 11 and had to restart both my phone and my watch for it to work. Now I was trying to use it on my Apple TV’s (both 4K) again and had these issues.

Ultimately, I tried resetting my bedroom Apple TV and that worked. It took almost two hours to do it all, though, so I’d really like to avoid doing that on my living room one, but I guess if there’s no other option ...

Yes. I signed out of iCloud on Apple TV, and then signed back in.

Check HomeKit on Apple TV and pair your phone with the Apple TV (instructions will be displayed).

Open fitness App on Apple TV and your watch should now appear.

Apple TV+ not working - work around

1. sign out of devices iCloud and sign back in tv, phone, iPad and especially watch
2. turn off and on again Apple Watch
3. open Apple fitness + on main device eg tv 4K
4. reconnect your Apple Watch you will need to enter code
5. reopen your chosen workout

this took me 30minutes to figure list, hopefully will save others a load of frustration .

issue seems to be since Apple added requirements for tracking of your app data for analytics and preferences.

I reset one of my Apple TV’s and it worked, but then someone else suggested signing out of and back into iCloud. I tried that on my other Apple TV and it worked. So I’d suggest giving that a try.

I struggled for a fix as I couldn't connect with my Apple Watch. I have found by signing out of iCloud on the affected Apple TV, and then signing back in again everything works as it should.

Logging in and out of iCloud on all devices did the trick. I’m now getting into Latin Dance on the fitness app!!

Logging out and in from the iCloud on Apple TV didn't help, but logging out and in from the iPhone finally did the trick!

Now I can start working out!

Must have iCloud connected to tv (not just Apple ID) and home sharing on. I had the same issue and that fixed.

it wasn’t working for me either. I signed out of iCloud on my ATV and back and then I got the red hot and held my phone near the ATV and my account popped right up when I went to the Fitness App.

I had the same issue , only disable / enable bluetooth in the watch fixed it.

Resetting the AppleTV worked for me

Try signing out of iCloud on your Apple TV and back in.
