Automator: Batch Convert Doc/Docx to PDF issue

Hi all, I am trying to figure out a workflow that will convert multiple word docs to pdf (I am a professor, so I receive a number of word docs that need to be in pdf format!). I found an applescript here (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251593383 - I will also attach a picture of the applescript below) that works partially but I keep running into some issues.

Here are the two scenarios.

Scenario 1:

  1. Workflow receives current documents in finder (let's say I select 6)
  2. Run apple script
  3. Result: It works except for one document (usually the first one though this isn't always the case, funny enough!)

Scenario 2:

  1. Workflow receives current documents in finder (let's say I select 6)
  2. Get selected finder items
  3. Run apple script
  4. Result: All 6 get converted. However, in the very last second, five of the pdfs are changed into duplicates of the one other pdf. So, I end up with 6 pdfs with 6 names (original names retained) but it's just the same document six times.

Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated! (here's an image of the apple script from the link above)

Should the last command in the Microsoft Word tell block be: close theActiveDoc?

Is that a typo for this question, or is that an actual Word command?

What are you doing with "output?"

You are concatenating every file path and name to output. I don't see where you use that variable again, so I can't tell if that might be the problem.

I don't imagine it is the problem, but can't tell.
