Using the Wix site with safari causes "significant memory" message

Whenever I'm working on my Wix site in Safari, I get messages like "this webpage was reloaded because it was using significant memory". I never have any issues using Wix in Chrome on my mac.

Whenever I'm working on Wix, I usually use Chrome to edit the site that is for my class (KDOG), and Safari to edit the other site (My Startup site).

Is there any way to prevent Safari from giving me the "significant memory" message? I have 32 GB RAM on the machine, so, memory isn't really a problem. Thanks.

Hey there Patddfan,

We'd like to help look into why Safari is showing this message, so let's start with ruling out some basics:

  1. We see that you have macOS 10.15 installed, but the latest is macOS 11.1 if you have a compatible model. You can verify which version number is installed by clicking on the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen, then on ‘About This Mac’. Here's how to first Back up your Mac with Time Machine, and afterwards, here's How to update the software on your Mac.
  2. This link shows how to Update apps or use automatic downloads.
  3. If you haven't tried one yet, we recommend a restart of your Mac. Check out the section 'Restart' here: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac
  4. Another thing to check once the above steps are completed is what's else is using the most memory and CPU % in Activity Monitor. The easiest way to check would be to click on the magnifying glass icon at the top right of your Mac's screen, then type in 'Activity Monitor'. After opening it, you can click on each category and organize it by what's using the most resources. This will help give an insight as to what else may be using a lot of resources besides Safari.
  5. To test for this in a new user, check out the steps under 'Add a user' here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

We look forward to hearing back from you about these details, and take care!
