Dark mode in Notes app: white text on black background on Mac showing up as black on black on iPhone

I use dark mode in the Notes app on my MacBook Air and on my iPhone, so I see off-white text on a dark gray background on both devices. I've found that when I change the text color to a color like purple on my Mac, then I change it back to the default off-white on my Mac, it shows up as black on my iPhone. This only affects the text that I changed to a color then changed back to off-white. When I ran Mojave on my Mac, I used to get around this by selecting the text and setting the formatting to be "Body." This would reset all other formatting. However, since I updated to Big Sur, clicking this button no longer resets the formatting. Is there a fix for this in an upcoming update or another button I can press to reset the formatting to fix the white text on my Mac showing up black on my iPhone?
