External blu-ray drive (Samsung SE-506) no longer runs on Mac running Catalina, any fix?

I've scoured the web looking for a solution to this, seems like some people with same drive, the SE-506, have had luck with various solutions that I've tried to no avail. I have VLC and MakeMKV installed so I HAVE the software the run blu-rays, but he drive just doesn't show up on my mac.

When I run system report no device shows up in the disc burning section, I may have to cut my losses and buy a new drive? Any suggestions?

If Apple wasn't so stubborn about blu-rays this probably wouldn't be a problem, but I want to use my laptop to watch movies for the convenience.
