External monitor via USB-C to LG UN880-B monitor won't be recognized

I just setup my first MBP (M1) with LG 32UN880-B.

Connection was made with LG provided USB-C cable and was working great for the first day.

Next morning, MBP would not recognize the monitor at all nor charge via USB-C.

I tried cycling power both but nothing worked except via HDMI.

Current OS Big Sur 11.1

Anyone had an issue like this?

Thank you

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0

Hey there, shornata.

We understand that now your LG external display is no longer working with their MacBook Pro, even though it worked fine once before.

This article has great information for using an external monitor with a Mac device: Use external monitors with your Mac As for troubleshooting steps, we recommend checking out this article: Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac

We hope that helps. Take care!

Same problem here, I have exactly the same Screen LG-32UN880-B, current OS is Bis Sur 11.1 using a Mac Mini M1.

On startup the screen is not recognized via USB-C, only via HMDI. While the OS is running and you connect and disconnect the usb-c cable a view times it has been recognized. Shutting down and booting up, same problem, screen is not recognized.

I am using HDMI for now. Also tested Macbook Air M1 same issue.

Do you guys think this is a software issue or rather a hardware issue with the LG screen?

Thanks.

If the suggestions already posted here are not adequate to solve your problem, and you have tried:

• creating a new blank Userid and logging in with that new Account to eliminate Account issues

• Restarting in Safe Mode to eliminate third-party add-on issues --

THEN: you should use the "Contact Support" link at the top of every web page.

Be polite and professional. But do not let them tell you "it's fine", unless it really IS fine.

Work with them until:

• the problem is solved -OR-

• they file a Bug Report.

Cyprian81,

I did try on my MBA of my wife's' and the same issue persisted.

So, I thought I try a non-LG monitor to see if the LG monitor is the problem but didn't even need to purchase another monitor after reading reviews of others left for the same issue. I am beginning to believe it's an M1 chip issue. I also read some scary reviews about how PD USB-C connection bricked the Macbooks. Hope Bigsur 11.2 comes with the fix.
