Retrieving Verification Code From Text

Has anybody else had issues auto-retrieving auth codes from texts and putting them into the forms? It rarely works on iPhone whereas with my last cheap Android it worked nearly every time.

Hey there The_Dude_7,

Let's continue ruling out some other possible causes:

  1. You mentioned already removing the Google keyboard, but it'll be a good idea to test for the same issue while only using built-in keyboards within Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.
  2. You'll also want to make sure that the 'AutoFill Passwords' option is enabled under Settings > Passwords.
  3. This link will show how to Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  4. If Private Browsing is enabled, please Turn Private Browsing on or off on your iPhone or iPod touch.
  5. It'll be a good idea to check if iCloud Keychain is enabled under Settings > Your Name > iCloud.

Hello there The_Dude_7,

We'd like to help get the auto-retrieving codes to work correctly, so let's confirm some basics:

  1. We see you're using an iPhone SE, but if it's the newer model, the latest version is iOS 14.3. You can verify which version number is installed within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. You mentioned that this occurs most, but not all of the time. If this is occurring in Safari, we recommend clearing history and website data within Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
  3. If this is occurring in other apps besides Safari, we recommend checking for any app updates. This link shows how to Update apps or use automatic downloads.

Take care.

Thanks for the reply. I am using the new iPhone SE and it is up-to-date. It’s an insignificant issue, I know, but irksome.

As a test I tried logging into my yahoo account from safari. It sends a verification text message with a code to enter into a field.

In the past sometimes (don’t remember what website) the code was taken from the text msg and put into the suggested text field above the keyboard where I could tap it and it would be inserted into the field on the web page. Sometimes it doesn’t show up right away and tapping on the website field again brings it up.

I was unsuccessful with this test. Rebooted and cleared safari cache per your instructions. Still unsuccessful. I realized I was using the google keyboard- removed that and repeated the test. Still unsuccessful. Also unsuccessful with chrome as the browser.

Any suggestions?
