Hearing Aid Bluetooth Static issue with iPhone 12 Pro

Hello Everyone,

I am currently having static noise issues during a Bluetooth phone call with my Phonak Marvel Hearing Aids on the iPhone 12 Pro.

I have have written about the issues on another hearing aid forum.

What hearing aids do you have. I have Phonak Audéo. M70-13T. All I did was go into the Phonak app and change the bandwidth to fixed. It defaulted to adaptive. Problem solved. No problem with my iPhone 12 Pro since. However, I see that Phonak has greyed out the two options now… so you may have to get your hearing aid dealer to make the change. My audiologist told me the adaptive bandwidth was supposed to give better sound with new phones, but it does not work.

I found a further tip in another forum. In the Phonak app, go to the menu (upper right corner), then to “my hearing aids” and then to “Bluetooth phone call.” Then change the setting do fixed bandwidth. (The default is adaptive bandwidth). Turn your aids off and on and reboot your phone. Evidently, this fix requires that you turn the phone off and on every day. Sounds weird, but the users say it works. I am going to try it.

Moisture in the hearing aids was causing my noise. Found out by accident, now if it’s sprinkling rain or I am perspiring a lot, I put hearing aids away in a dehumidifier and enjoy the solitude. Amazon has a dehumidifier that warms them for 2 hours and 15 minutes at 104 degrees and cuts of for less than forty bucks. Money well spent. Least amount of wax in microphone also causes this,so be sure they are clean. Hope this helps.

Thanks I’ll see if it works for me as well. I’ve been just releasing the battery in the staticky ear 97% of time it’s the left and that solves the issue. Then rein gage the battery after conversation completed. It’s just annoying to deal with it in this way as Apple should update and resolve issues. Thanks again.

My husband has same problem - static/crackling with his phonic hearing aids. And any other hearing aid thru blue tooth. The direct connected ones have no issues but you need to take the phone out to talk..very frustrating everyday he calls and tells me it is crackling again. I want to throw it in the garbage. If he turns the phone off and back on again it clears…..then 12 hours later it happens again. This happened with the iPhone 11, 12 and 13. Each phone and each upgrade we were told it will fix it. The only one it didn’t happen with was the iPhone 10 so he just purchased an iPhone 10 from apple under the refurbished area online but it is actually new to what we see. No more crackle even with the most recent iOS . I am not an engineer but one and one make two. Obviously there is something in the phone itself interfering with the connection and it is with all new phones. I suggest do not purchase another new phone ever stick with iPhone 10 . It does everything great and no crackling . Wake up apple and listen to a lay person and fix your PHONE

I’m on the same boat. I have the KS 9.0. I have to add however the issue was pretty anywhere I was making phone calls over Bluetooth. Ie. car.

I had made several calls to Apple. Each call was pretty much the same steps. Restart the phone, Restart the HAs, reset the network settings, and then finally factory reset the phone completely. Most of these fix work for a short time ( I always suspected that it was just phone rebooting that would help ).

After the 4th call they finally asked me to send my phone in for repairs. When it came back the report in the box said they had replaced the speaker. No shocker, the problem was still the same. I called a 5th time and complained that the problem was still persisting. Long story short they replaced my phone and I’m still left with static during Bluetooth calls.

Either there is a major hardware flaw in the design of the Bluetooth for the iPhone 12 or there is iOS glitch. I’ve used my KS9.0 with the iPhone 6, 7, and X, as well as a couple of different iPads. I’ve never had any issues until now. It’s seriously such a shame.
