Why will my Apple Watch Series 5 not pair with my Apple TV HD for Fitness app

Why will my Apple Watch Series 5 not pair with my Apple TV HD for Fitness app. Apple TV HD allows my wife's Watch Series 4 to pair easily.

My watch will pair with the fitness app on my iPhone an iPad Pro easily.

Hi k5v9nmc,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with Fitness+ and using it with your Apple Watch and Apple TV. It sounds like it won't pair for you but will for your wife.

Please see: Set up Fitness+ on Apple TV

"Choose who is working out

If you use Family Sharing, you can easily switch between family members in the Fitness app on Apple TV. Friends or family outside of your Family Sharing group who are Apple Fitness+ subscribers can also work out using your Apple TV.

  1. Open the Fitness app on your Apple TV.
  2. Select your name, or select Other if you don’t see your name.
  3. If no one is signed in on your Apple TV, you may need to select Sign In in the Fitness app first.
  4. To switch to another family member or guest, select the account icon in the top left corner of the Fitness app, select Sign out, then select another user."

Have a fantastic day!

Thank you for these instructions. Unfortunately I have already reviewed all this information and tried to click the icon for My Apple Watch, but it always errors out after I click Connect button on my watch and states "pairing cancelled" on the Apple TV screen. I have also tried to set up my watch as a different watch to pair with the TV but it always states "pairing cancelled". My Apple Watch is model A2095 and has version 7.2 of Watch Software. I can use my watch as a remote to control the Apple TV so I do not understand why the Fitness+ App won't allow it to pair.

Please supply a solution to this issue as I would really like to use the Fitness+ on my TV instead of just my iPhone or iPad Pro where the watch paired successfully and easily.

Thank you

k5v9nmc,

Thanks for the further information. It was helpful.

Please see this page: If you see "Pairing Canceled" while starting a workout in Apple Fitness+

"Add Apple TV to the Home app

  1. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit. You'll see "1" in a red badge next to AirPlay and HomeKit. Don't see a red badge?
  2. Select Finish Home Set Up.
  3. Unlock your iPhone and hold it close to your Apple TV.
  4. Follow the steps on your Apple TV to add your Apple TV to the Home app and finish setup."

You may also want to restart the Apple TV, iPhone and Apple Watch.

After that and following the article's steps, "If you go to Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit on your Apple TV and don't see a red badge or an option to add Apple TV to the Home app, contact Apple Support."

Cheers,
