Stolen Ipad

My Ipad was stolen, on my Iphone on Find My ap I marked the ipad as Lost. My IPad on Find My ap, now reads Erase Pending. is there a way to erase remotely instantly?

It is waiting for it to be turned on. It can't be erased if not on.

Thank you that is what i read. I was hoping to be able to erase even if device is off. My nerves are frayed since my home was burglarized last night.
