Sony wh-1000xm4 headphones

I don't see my Sony wh-1000xm4 bluetooth headphones as a selection when trying to pair with my MacBook Pro with the M1. I have turned off bluetooth in my other devices. The headphones are next to the laptop. I have turned the headphones off and on several times as well as the bluetooth on the laptop.

They pair easily with my iPad and iPhone 11Pro Max.

Any suggestions?

I had the same issue but finally figured it out. While turning on, you have to press the ON button on your headphones for about 7 seconds (feels like more) to activate the "Second point activation mode", I read this on the headphones manual. Then and only then, my MacBook could show the wh1000xm4 icon in the Bluetooth system preferences window. Maybe you need to be already paired with your iPhone to pull this, that's how I did it. Hope this helps!
