FInder drag and drop no longer works in 11.1

I just upgraded to Big Sure 11.1 and I can no longer drag and drop files in finder. When I click and hold down on a file, a big box pops up with a preveiw of the file or a picture of a folder. I can't dismiss it without losing the selection. Please tell me that there is some mystery setting that fixes this. I don't want to have to move things around from the command line.
