In the Songs view of your library (or anywhere but inside a playlist) right-click on the song and use the delete option from the pop-up menu. Don't hide from your purchase history when prompted, but do send the file to the recycle bin. It will either stay in place but gain a cloud download icon, or you will need to close iTunes and then reopen to see it. Clicking the icon should download a fresh copy. As it download you should see a small activity widget at the top right of the iTunes window. Click this and untick the option to allow simultaneous download if ticked. Experience suggests downloads are more reliable with this option disabled.
