Tech Support on chat were terrible. Then on phone I was told it needed repair and my options were:
- Take into store - no stores open so can't do that
- Pay £1000 up front, they'll send out a new one and refund the money when they've got and inspected yours
- Go without a phone for between 7-10 days (they obviously forgot about Christmas so more like 14-21 days) and send it to them for repair.
Being the stubborn person I am, I told them I wasn't doing any of the above and wanted a solution now as I didn't want to be without a phone over Christmas as I'm away from family. They said it happens due to a corrupt update that can happen. They had me plug my phone into my computer with iTunes and then do some funky thing to get it into like a safe mode.
Needless to say the restore from back up didn't work as my phone had refused to back up since October, so I had to set up from new. I was advised... well more coerced into taking out Apple Care which will mean if I have future issues it will mean they will send me out a new phone and pick my broken one up at the same time.
Funnily, after taking out that product, my update which was stuck at Preparing Update then suddenly finished behind the scenes and asked if I wanted to install. Then after downloading all my apps I could miraculously create a back up.
Maybe I'm being cynical, but it really is making me regret my decision buying this phone. Twice in 2-3 weeks I've had to reset it now.
