Mission control and multiple displays

I use two different displays each with their own spaces. Suppose I have some window open on Display 1 and the focus is on that window. If I then open mission control to select some space/full screen app on Display 2, the focus doesn't switch. So basically I have to click twice to change focus using mission control.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but I find it quite annoying. I have already encountered a few times when I started typing out an address in my browser, only to notice that my mac is focused on a completely different window.

Does anyone know a work around for this? Or some third-party installation that could remedy this?

Hi Demophilus,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We see you are having some troubles with using Mission Control with two desktops, and we'd like to do what we can to help.

If we're understanding correctly, you're having an issue with selecting Mission Control for the correct desktop when using extended desktop mode.

Perhaps making a mouse click on display 2 before selecting a space with Mission Control will help. You can work with multiple spaces on one display, and then also multiple displays, which may get confusing.

Hopefully these resources will help:

Work in multiple spaces on Mac

See open windows and spaces in Mission Control on Mac

Change Mission Control preferences on Mac

Take care!
