Can’t install or shutdown or anything after downloading and starting the update... message is up for less than a second... to continue the shutdown quit Install MacOS Big Sur...

Anyone else know how to “quit the install”?

mac OS big sur failed Hello, I was doing the mac Sur update on my mac. Prior to starting this update, I made sure I had enough storage in my Mac. At first, it all went well, and the update seemed to be going at a good pace. But then, it got stuck at 10% or less. And it has been stuck like that for 2 days now. I tried turning the computer off, and restarting it a couple times. Nothing worked. I am very concerned, as I need my computer. What would you do in my shoes? Does anybody have any tips? Or knows any keyboard commands to “quit an update” ??

Mac OS Big Sur cannot restart to install update Hello ,I cannot install Big Sur 11.4, when I am clicking restart to install it then it is just checking for updates again and again I even tried force quitting and opening again but still not working, pls help me

Big Sur Update If anyone else is having the issue where they are upgrading to Big Sur but they get an update error involving the Startup Disk, here is what I did to fix it. After clicking “OK” on the error and you see the Startup Disk selection window that never populates anything, right behind that window is the Update Window (cannot for the life of me remember exactly what this was called). Click on it to make it active and then click on the menu header beside the Apple icon. Go to the bottom of the menu and click quit update utility. Another window pops up and I clicked restart. After several repeats of the Apple loading screen (and I do mean several and they can take a long time), the Mac finally reboots properly and updated. This worked on the 2018 MacBook Air I am using.

Try holding option key at power on.

I’ve owned macs for years and this one for almost 2 years... I didn’t know the security button is the power button... never really needed one until now. The install proceeded. Thanks...
