iPhone 12 Pro Max crashing with CarPlay using Maps

I’ve recently had CarPlay equipped. When I have Maps displayed on the home screen, or full screen, my stereo freezes for a few seconds and then I would notice my iPhone automatically restarts. There was even one time that it showed the recovery screen after booting up.

I’ve narrowed the cause to Maps - it does not happen when I have the CarPlay on full screen with other apps like Music.

Does this happen to anyone else as well? I have my iOS updated to the latest version as of this writing.

To get started, when you say that you have Maps displayed on the home screen or full screen, are you referring to the display on your car stereo or the iPhone? When your iPhone restarts, do you by chance see an Apple logo or spinning gear on your iPhone display?

Going forward, have you had a chance to work through the steps provided in the previous resource? Also, have you checked if there are any firmware updates available for your car's stereo?

Hi there,

I was referring to the car stereo display: full screen with Maps or the Home screen with Maps on the left, and Music and other apps on the right ie. Calendar

When the iPhone restarts, I see the Apple logo. There was one instance happened when I saw the iTunes recovery screen with the notebook icon and the lightning cable.
