Received a defective charger whom should I contact now?

I bought an iPad Air 4 from official Apple online store India.

I received the product after a long delay of 45 days. The order came on 17th December, it came with 92% charge so I charged it the next day. When I unplugged it, the plastic covering on the tip of the wire came separately exposing the metal part it beneath it. I checked the other end and the same problem was found , it turns out that the adhesion was lost/improper . It is really worrying to see a costly product coming with such a low quality accessory. I had huge expectations from apple, I am now totally Disappointed , first the delay and now the charger wire is of cheap quality.


The cost of the wire alone is Rs.1900 on the official online Apple store.


I contacted Customer Care number, they asked me to contact apple store nearby. But there is no official apple store in India yet. Only online store is available and that too was launched very recently.

They also told that I should have contacted them about the defect on the same day of delivery which was 17th December. I noticed the defect on 18th and I complained on 19th . I don’t think it is fair to turn down my request stating that the complaint was late.


Since it is a new product I suppose it must be having warranty for one year / apple care . I do not know whom to contact now or how to approach the issue or what to expect from apple as a response (like replacement/ refund etc. )Please guide me if you are aware.
