Iphone storage

i changed my phone recently to the new iPhone. My old iPhone storage was up then I decided to get from ICloud. After changing my phone, the photos still upload on iCloud even though I have enough space on my phone. How can I stop that?

Can I safely change ICloud/Photos setting to optimise Iphone storage and not risk losing images? I lack storage space on my iphone as a result of opting to download full original images onto my phone in my iCloud option settings. I now want to free up space on my phone by changing the ICloud setting to Optimise storage on iPhone. Can I simply change the setting to upload the originals images onto ICloud without risking losing the originals on my phone? I do not plan to delete any images.

How can you stop what exactly? Having the photos uploaded to iCloud?

First screenshot - you need more iCloud storage.

Second screenshot - you don’t have iCloud Photos turned on.

Yes, how can I stop them from uploading on ICloud for now? Since there is space on my phone
