My mouse pointer no longer changes to the "trim" icon

When highlighting a clip in the timeline , pointer does not change from an arrow icon to a trim icon anymore. It used to change to trim when I would hover over the end or beginning of a highlighted clip. Now it just shows the mouse pointer (but trimming still works).

Even if I manually select "trim" for the action, the pointer still looks like the mouse arrow. So it.s hard to see when I am at the end of the clip to drag because the moue pointer arrow is all there is....

Yes my pointer looked like that. So then I thought "maybe it's not just FCP". and indeed, in a browser, the cursor was not changing to a "hand" when I hovered over hyperlinks. SO I then stopped doing what I do every day "remind me tomorrow" whenever the Mac asks me to update. Is I updated the Mac and now it works!!!

Thanks to you both for responding and trying to figure it out. In a way, you solved it because when I deleted my FCP preferences and it did not work, I started wondering if it was the Mac itself and not FCP...
