Not getting message notifications

For the last month or so, my iPhone X and now my iPhone 12 pro max are not receiving message notifications every 4 or 5 texts. So I’ll hear a few from one person, and then an hour later from the same person my phone won’t make a sound or even show that I have a new message.

Is anyone else experiencing this? What is the fix? Is it the error riddled iOS 14?

Message sound notification on I-phone XR I have read through the previous questions, all of the sound notifications are turned on, and I still only get sound notifications sporadically. The sounds always seem to go off when I am in holding the phone, or sometimes when replies are being sent to me, but not when I am a little farther away. I have missed many messages in a timely fashion because my phone doesn’t go off. The last trick I tried just a few minutes ago was to turn the lock sound off, but don’t know if that will help yet.

No notification sound/alert for Messages Running IOS 16.2 here on iPhone 14 Plus. If the screen is off, I am not getting any messages notification sounds/alerts. The messages do show up in notification center and lock screen but with my screen off, I have missed a ton of SMS and iMessage ones because my phone did not ring and also my Apple Watch did not notify me, so same behaviour on Apple Watch. I did file a report on bug report but curious if anyone has had this. I remember on the previous iOS 16 there were no issues like this.
