MacBook Air battery not charging after battery replacement
Hello everyone!
I've had some issues with the battery on my MacBook Air 13" (2017) lately. It didn't last much longer than 3 hours (using mostly Pages), got hot when charging during use, switched off at 50% charge and gave me a "Service Recommended" warning. Since all the licensed Apple repair shops in my area are closed due to the pandemic and I didn't want a no-name battery, I decided to buy a used original battery and replace it myself. I bought it on eBay, the shop said they tested each part and has good ratings, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the battery itself. However, after replacing it, the battery won't charge.
The "Service Recommended" warning is gone. Coconut Battery says the battery health is at over 90% with 210 cycles (compared to roughly 50% and 378 of my old one). When the charger is plugged in, the orange light glows, but the Mac still tells me it isn't charging. I've reset SMC and PRAM, but no changes. The Mac will turn on without the charger and it will start to drain if left without, but it won't charge when in use or shut down.
Does anyone have an idea what I could do? Apart from leaving it on the charger until the shops open again at some vague point in the future?
