What you want to do makes sense, but Screen Sharing is no substitute for TDM.

You can't use a MBA as a monitor in the way you describe. What you need is an external display connected to the MBP: Use an external display with your MacBook Pro - Apple Support

But will this let me use my MacBook Air ( no USB-c ports, about 3-4 yrs old) as another display monitor for my MacBook Pro ( newer model with USB-c ports only)?

What I primarily want to do when I am away from the office is run my ZOOm or MS-Teams conference calls on my work MacBook Pro, but actually display the Zoom window on my personal Mac air- using Mac air as only a monitor? This will allow me to use the main display on my work computer to perform other work with MS office.

Hope this makes sense.

Please advise as the best approach to solve this issue.
