Could you provide a screen image, so we can see everything your device is telling you.
There’s usually far more information available.
You need to have enough internal storage Available. This is the easiest thing to not have met, these days.
You need to have at least a 50% battery charge. (It can be less if plugged in.)
You need to not be in Low Power mode. (The battery should be filling with Green, not Yellow [or Red].)
You need to have a good, reliable Wi-Fi connection.
If your iPad goes to sleep, while downloading (or installing), your Wi-Fi connection will, likely, go down! If you keep your iPad plugged in, the Wi-Fi connection should remain intact, even as your iPad goes to sleep.

It says update failed please try again. When I reset the iPad again and redo it over from scratch it says the same thing. Contacted Apple support they say that you can’t update the new iOS 14.3 system based off of the fact that the iPad is a 2017
Can you confirm your model number? What iOS is it running?
What happens when you try and update it?

It’s so hard to get good help, these days. 🤦🏻♂️
That’s an iPad Pro, 12.9 inch, 2nd generation, yaniquef30. Right?
I have one, with the only difference being that it also includes Cellular.
You should be able to upgrade all the way to iPadOS 14.3, at this time.
Well Apple support have told you wrong. There is no reason why you can’t update it
i would contact them again
