Set up face id

Hi! I bought a second hand iphone xs from a friend. I transferred all my data from iphone 6 thru bluetooth. I’m having a hard time setting up my face id . I already did the hard reset and updated the ios. Can you suggest other options? Ty

Set up Face ID

Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode. ...
Tap Set Up Face ID.
Make sure that you're holding your device in portrait orientation, position your face in front of your device, and tap Get Started.
Position your face inside the frame and gently move your head to complete the circle.

Thank you so much for the reply. I also did those things several times already but to no avail still can not set up my face id. I brought the phone to an apple store here and the technician only suggested to update the ios
