iPhone ringer volume increases to max volume when connecting to car via bluetooth

Also looking for a solution, have the same issue with my iPhone8 and my wifes SE 2020 since iOS 14.3. As soon as we connect via BT to one of our Amazon ECHOs, the value of the internal volume increases to MAX (Echo is still on volume 5 out of 10) and stays there after disconnect. So next time an alarm or call arrives the internal speaker is at 100% volume and this slowly destroys the speakers, it already started crackling. Please fix this finally!

Same issue here. I have tried two different iPhones. Latest OS of 14.7.1. Bluetooth or CarPlay connecting to my vehicle cause the ringer volume to go to max, even after leaving the vehicle. I have adjusted ringer volume while being called in the car -- both on Bluetooth and CarPlay connections.

I've been dealing with this for over a year now. It stopped for a while but is not back in full force. Newest update still doesn't fix it. It's disruptive enough I'm about done with this phone. Full blast volume on a call in the middle of a meeting is beyond obnoxious and it scares me every time. @apple please fix this!

For me, this problem (bug) was not specific to connecting to my vehicle via Bluetooth but other devices as well. I had an iPhone 6 and this problem was always present. Now that I have the iPhone 12, it continues to persist. One would think that Apple would realize that this is a problem and fix it instead of continuing to add features that most users do not care about.

FYI: IOS 15 (and 15.0.1)made it even worse! Now it happens EVERY time I get connected to my car via BT, not just sometimes.

(Well, maybe it’s better this way, because now it doesn’t surprise me blowing up the speakers every now and then. Instead it happens every f…ing time I get connected, so I got used to check and lower the volume as soon as I leave the car)

Same problem here. I don't even have CarPlay, just a regular bluetooth set up I added to a 2007 Honda. Same happens when connecting to my JBL speaker. Very annoying.

I’m having the same issue, ringer volume going to max, after connecting to my vehicle vehicle Bluetooth. Vehicle has Ford SYNC 3. I have iOS 14.3 installed.

Has anyone seen a fix for this? @apple will there be a fix?

Same problem when I use any Bluetooth headphones including AirPod max. Very annoying. Most times the volume just turned itself way up. I have seen the phone when it happens. Is as if someone is pressing the volume button. Sometimes it gets lower but mostly louder. Very disappointing !!!

Precisely:

The iPhone has separate volume levels for each "mode" and connection.

• Bluetooth volume levels are different from speaker volume levels
• Phone call volume levels are different from music player volume levels

and so on.

So for example, if your phone is set to connect via Bluetooth, to adjust the volume of a phone call, you have to adjust the volume during a phone call.

Well explain this : I am sleeping with my AirPod max headphones on... not in the car ... and what was set at a low volume is all of a sudden max volume. I have seen it happen. The phone just turns itself up... way up

This should still be fixed. Because I use a F M Transmitter through Bluetooth for my motorcycle. And without having the volume up on my phone, the music isn’t loud enough to hear without jacking the volume up to Max on the bike. So there again it should be fixed to not mess with the ringer volume only Bluetooth volume.

@Apple either does not read the posts in this forum or thinks somehow that this is a feature and not a defect. If you have volume set at one level, walk out of range of your Bluetooth device, and the Fing phone jumps to full volume on reconnect, it is a DEFECT not a feature. This has been an issue with my $1,100 phone for well over a year. Hello? Apple?

Several updates have come out since this thread has been going on and that is quite frankly disgusting.

The title of this thread should be updated to include (possibly) ALL bluetooth audio systems. This happens to me on my Yamaha RS202 stereo. The results can be deafening upon reconnect. Perhaps a class action suit for covering future hearing aids would get the iPhone Audio Product Managers attention?
