If we understand correctly, you have the Facebook Messenger app installed on more than Apple device using the same account, and when you initiate or reply from one device you only receive notifications for the conversation on that device. For example, you send a message on your iPhone and only your iPhone shows the badge that the person has replied, your iPad shows no notifications or alerts that a reply has been received.
If we’re on the same page, we’re happy to offer some basic troubleshooting to hopefully resolve the issue for you, but we want to be completely transparent in letting you know that you may need to reach out to Facebook Help for more advanced guidance.
First, try this on all devices:
- Update to the latest version of the operating system.

- If you’re already updated, restart.

- Check to see if the Facebook Messenger app needs to be updated.
Update apps or use automatic downloads - Apple Support
- Delete and re-install the app, if not.

Still not receiving notifications as expected? Try isolating it to just the Facebook Messenger app by testing in similar apps. The Messages app may be a good alternative. This will let us know if the issue is with notifications or the Facebook app. If it only occurs with the Facebook Messenger app, it’s time to reach out to Facebook for help.
