Apple Watch blocking Bluetooth

I want to pair a Bluetooth speaker to my iPhone but my Apple Watch is connected via Bluetooth thus blocking the signal for the speaker. How can this be overcome?

It looks like you're trying to pair a Bluetooth speaker to your iPhone that already has your Apple Watch paired to it. Being able to have multiple connections on your device is a great option to switch between your connections. We're glad you reached out for help.
