So, I have an old 2010 MacBook Air that got fully wiped and I want to use it for random things that I need active but the hard drive was completely wiped. So when I booted it up it was in recovery mode. As I went to redownload iOS (lion max OS X v10.7) it said that to restore it it’s eligibility would be verified with apply. After pressing continue it said ‘an error occurred while preparing he instillation. Try running this application again.’ I tried that multiple times but just says that every time any help?

iOS is the operating system for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch.

Are you trying to redownload the OS for your MacBook Air?

A 2010 MacBook Air shipped with a USB thumbdrive for system restore.

The installers for the OS are found on:

Unless you have a Late 2010 MacBook Air, the maximum operating system you can install is 10.11.6.

The Late 2010 can upgrade to 10.13.6.
