Returning an iPhone to owner.

I've recovered an old iPhone with a broken screen. I was able to recharge it since the battery was dead. Is there a way to identify who the owner is so I can return it? If I brought it to an Apple store can they identify the owner?

Apple doesn’t get involved with lost or stolen personal property. Unless the owner left contact information on a lost mode screen, there is no way to find out anything about the owner.
