iPad Mini 1st Generation - Storage Question

Hi,

For some odd reason this is more difficult than it should be but I read the three storage options for this iPad I have are 16, 32, 64 GB. When I go to the Storage section I see the capacity is 27.3 GB and the available storage is 26.7 GB, which is neither the three storage options (16, 32,64 GB). Can someone please help me and inform me what my actual storage is? Thanks!

You must be actually looking at your iCloud storage and NOT your actual iPad storage.

There are two ways to actually check the internal iPad storage.

In Settings app under the General panel, About

AND

Settings app, General, Storage and iCloud Usage panel.

Tap this panel and go into the upper top panel that is where your actual iPad storage readings will be.

It will generate a bar graph and a list of everything that is taking up valuable data storage space on your older iPad Mini model,

Best of Luck to You!

Okay.

You have a 2012, 32 GBs iPad Mini 1st gen.

After internal drive formatting and installation of iOS 9.3.5, that iPad is left with approx. 27.5 GBs, of which 26.5 is still; available.

Never, ever completely fill up ANY computer or computing device full of data.

When your iPad starts filling up that iPad with data, you need to maintain, at least, an operational reserve of storage of between 2-4 GBs, at all times.

I have a very important question for you.

Is this a, used, new to you iPad or did you or someone else reset this iPad back to its near factory state?

These are VERY important questions that I need you to answer for me because I don't tbink you are going to like very much what I need to tell you next.

Well, okay.

But FYI, since you reset this old iPad you pretty much rendered it useless.

That over 8-year old, iPad Mini model is too old, now.

Apple ended support for 8-10 year old iPads, at least, over 3 years, ago.

Virtually, all third party iOS app developers ended/stopped/abandoned supporting these old iPads over two years, ago.

There are virtually, NO MORE older iOS 9 or 10 compatible apps available from the Apple iOS App Store, any longer.

And the over 4-year old Safari Web browser in that iPad is too old and is no longer safe nor secure to be trusted for use on the Internet, now.

If you never backed up this device and never saved older backups with full older apps saved, you will never get any more third apps for that iPad, now.
