SDD Partition Issue
I'm replacing the internal HDD on my late 2012 27" iMac running Catalina with an external Samsung T5 1 TB SSD. When I attempted to format the SSD using Disk Utility I was able to erase but not re-format the drive with the GUID partition table to make the drive bootable, DU said the original partition "Master Boot Record" could not be changed. I've seen several YouTube videos of people formatting the same model SSD with the GUID partition table, but theirs didn't say "Master Boot Record" on the disk title in DU and I can't figure out if this is something hard-wired into the drive or not, spec sheets for SSD drives don't specify "Master Boot Record" on any of the drives I've looked at, and I'm wondering if it's connected to the USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface, if so would a SATA interface eliminate the issue. Any guidance would be appreciated.
