Macbook Air battery capacity at 85 % after 6 months.

Hi,

I bought Macbook Air 2020 (intel) in May 2020 and after 5-6 months it says the max capacity of the battery is at 85 % of its design capacity. It currently sits at 90 cycles. Due to coronavirus, I took it to authorized service (we don't have Apple Store in Czech Republic) in December, but it says this info from October and they said its normal and that the battery is fine.

I have Sensei app that says 'This battery is in good condition but is starting to lose some capacity.' I know that authorized service word should be more important, I would just like to ask if it's really normal for the battery to lose 15 % after 5-6 months of use? Seems odd to me.

Thanks.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.1

It's not abnormal. It may remain at 85% for a long time. It may even increase once in a while. In any event it's well within Apple's published specifications and the authorized Apple service facility was correct in that assessment.

'This battery is in good condition but is starting to lose some capacity.'

An obvious and useless statement from an equally useless app. Uninstall it. Batteries begin to lose capacity the moment they are installed and used.
