Q: Your payment method was declined

Im really getting ****** off. I keep getting "Your payment method was declined" when I try to purchase an e-mail voucher for a friend. I have spent 2.5 hours trying to solve this, I know how much my friend would appreciate it else I would tell apple to get fu$%ed since getting help does not seem possible. I have tried 2 different accounts. I just want to buy a freaking voucher or punch an apple employee. Anyone know what is going on?

Okay everyone I found out what the problem is . The reason why this has happen is cause you have apps on your ipad that hasn't been finished paid for .. So what you do is make sure to have at leas more then 30$ so that way when you update your payment it will take out the money you owe for the unpaid applications . I owed 12$ when I had put money in my card so I paid it off . Now I can download music and apps .. You don't need to go on your PC to do this . Please let me know if this helped !

Hi everybody, I've got an iPad and I had the same problem you have. I tried again and again with my mastercard, it didn't work. I call my bank. They told me that I would have no problem paying with my card. Then I opened the iTunes on my computer (a Sony with Windows Vista), I went to App store and search for the apps I needed. I tried again with my mastercard. It didn't work. This time I got a message saying: "your card is not accepted in Italy", but I see next to the icons of differents types of credit cards another icon "clickandbuy". I clicked on this icon and fill the form one step after another. Then it worked marvelllously. I hope this would also help you guys to solve your problem.

To all users who suffered from this payment declined nightmare, I tried the following four steps, and these fixed the problem. For my case, I first doubted that maybe that is the problem because of my foreign IP (I am not in my home country now) or there are something wrong with my credit card. But it turns out the problem is "TOTALLY" from Apple's system.

Basically the idea is to re-activate your account in Apple's server, to do this, you have to change some information in your account. Please follow the below procedures step by step:

    1. Reset your password, and make sure this time you have a passward which obeys Apple's instruction (i.e. including upper and lowercase letters).

    2. Reset your payment option to "NONE", and save the profile by pressing "DONE".

    3. Reset your title to whatever you want, just do not the same to the current one you have used. (For example, I changed my title from Mr. to Dr.)

    4. Re-enter your credit card information again.

Then...Something is magically fixed, your Apple ID is reborn now.

    Hope this helps.

And if this works for you, please reply this post to let other people follow this solution. Thank you.

i think the problem is about your card balance

i have that kind of problem but i am using virtual card so its taking how much i put

i putted enough but its not taking inside the card now

the worst thing is you can not see that how much you owned to itunes or app store

it must be something about it

Instructions to change payment info step by step:

For everyone who does not see the "NONE" option, means they owe something on the balance.

Did not work. Nothing works. It is really annoying me.

I tried everything, resetting password, changing my account info, changing creditcards. Doesn't matter which one I use, it is always declined. I do not owe anything to Apple, my AppleID has some money in it.

I don't know what is wrong, I don't understand it either because last week it still worked.. And now today. Poof, it magically didn't anymore..

Anybody has another idea? And please Apple, I kindly demand TO FIX THIS.

    Go here

    https://expresslane.apple.com/Issues.action

Pick itunes in the middle and itunes store on the right. E-mail them and ask about your account.(be as detailed as you can "nothing works" is not detailed. Card declined is). In few hours they will investigate and e-mail back. May take up to a business day.

The email with the notification arrived just a second later than the email from Apple that they received my issue . Thanks.

I am having the exact same issue.  And I kind of think I know why.  Earlier, this week, (Tuesday), I purchase something through Apple.. Apple TV to be more precised.  Everything work as normal as it has been working for years.  I was using a debit card.  A day or so later, there was an update to Apple TV, which I did and all of a sudden.. my card is declined.

I switch to an actual CC and it worked.  Try to switch back to my debit.. no joy.. and trust me, I have PLENTY of money.

But after reading 18 pages worth of complaints, the fault lies with Apple.  I am a network and system administrator and when a problem affects multiple people, it is not with the people but with the source.

I want to use my Debit Card.  I email Apple and I hope they have a solution.  But I do know that every since Tim Cook took over, after the passing of Steve Jobs, Apple problems have grown.  There seems to be a huge lack of testing before each new release.

I will try one other thing and get back to you whether this works or not.  I will remove all my payment methods from all my Apple devices and try to reenter.. (iphones, appletv and itunes).

You don't need to remove your card from devices, "system admin". Remove from account once - instructions here:

I had the same problem with my ipad mini that I have just baught today. At first I was so confused but after 3 hours of trying I managed to solve it and the solution is easier than I thaught. The problem was I was choosing "Ms." when it asks you to choose your title and on my Visa I am listed as "Miss." so I choose "Miss" instead and it worked. Wish I did that before lol. I hope this helps people, make sure that the name, surname or title that you choose is the same that you have on your card =] (Also check the expiry date, enter everything exactly like it is written on the card!)
