How to make TextEdit shortcut (or style) for a bulleted list?

In TextEdit, I tried "Show Styles" --> "Add to Favorites" for a

bulleted list, but it doesn't work when I try to apply it to a line of

text.

Then I tried making a Keyboard Shortcut in System Preferences for the application TextEdit for

"List..." but it didn't open that dialog box (which wouldn't be a good

solution anyway since there are more steps left I'd have to do manually.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Not sure if this will suit your needs but...If you use the Bullets & Numbering Tool in the Toolbar you can access the "Show More..." option:

that may eliminate the need to create a custom style. Looks like this:

OK, that's embarrassing. I've been using the Format pulldown menu, then List... to make bulleted lists. I didn't even know about the lists part of the Toolbar! Thanks. for that.
