Why can't I open documents on my Macbook Air M1?

I just got the new MacBook Air with M1. I love it BUT I can't open any documents on my desktop. Instead of opening, the iCloud icon spins but nothing else happens. What is going on? I need to be able to access my documents. Help!

Hi TheLadyCocotte,

Congratulations on your new MacBook Air with the M1 chip! Making sure you can access the files and documents on your desktop is important. We're glad you reached out for help.

Take a look at the article below for help with accessing your iCloud documents on your Mac.

Work with folders and files in iCloud Drive

If you continue to have issues opening the documents let the community know the macOS installed and if you migrated your files from another Mac.

Have a good day!
