Recovering text
How can I recover a text message from a particular contact that I accidentally hit the permanent delete button by accident? When I restore the messages from the cloud on a date prior to the messages still don’t appear.

go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and check the switch position for Messages
If the switch is ON, then you cannot recover your deleted messages (no need to read any further)
If the switch is OFF, then you might be able to recover your messages IF you have an iPhone backup that contains the messages you are trying to recover. In which case you'd need to restore your iPhone to that backup. In doing so, you'd likely lose some data between now and whenever your backup occurred.

correct. when you have that switch turned on, your messages are stored in iCloud..
and are then not included in the backup process (same goes for photos when using iCloud Photos)

🤦🏽♀️ If I understand correctly that means there is no way even though I have a back up prior to?
That’s really weird though because all of the text except this one particular contact was retrieved. Thank you for the help.
