Hi, Donald.
We appreciate you taking the time to post in the Apple Support Communities.
It looks like you’re experiencing some difficulty in keeping your new wireless gaming controller connected to your Apple TV. We may have some suggestions that will help.
Great job keeping your Apple TV on the latest tvOS version. We want to be completely transparent in showing you that Sony lists the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller as being compatible with tvOS 13, and the current version is tvOS 14.3. You may want to start with reaching out to PlayStation support to confirm compatibility with your Apple TV:
PS4: Pair DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller with iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Apple TV
If you prefer some troubleshooting first, you might try these steps, testing in between each.
- Reset the controller as outlined here:

- We didn’t see any options while we were researching your issue on their support pages, so you might reach out to PlayStation support to see if the controller is capable a firmware update.
- Make sure that you stay within range of your Apple TV and that there is not any potential wireless interference in the area.
