need help connecting my usb superdrive to my MacBook air

The linked adapter has no power of its own, it simply transmits power from the Mac's USB-C port. Although some USB-C docks specifically indicate support for the SuperDrive, most do not so indicate and most do not work. The amount of power the dock provides over USB-C is irrelevant, it's the power provided to USB-A ports that matters since that's how the SuperDrive must connect. Most hubs/docks cap the output current at 500 mA per USB-A port, and the SuperDrive draws 900 mA.


Here's my SuperDrive connected with nonda dongle and the disc in the drive properly mounted on the desktop – as I stated, works fine on 6 Macs.
