I have an HP Photosmart C4700 All-in-one printer. It failed when I upgraded to one of the Catalina versions and continues to fail under BigSur. From all I can tell, it looks like I must buy a new printer, as this one looks to be a big brick.
Before giving up on the printer, try holding the Option key while adding the printer to your system preferences for printer while hooked up to USB and the printer. Sometimes the built-in open source drivers take over.
http://www.hp.com/support will help you verify a printer is Big Sur compatible before purchasing another HP.
I would definitely send feedback to HP support letting them know they really need to come with an update.
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried all the options available, but, unfortunately, no software would load properly.
