Connecting old (USB-A) and new (USB-C) Macbook Airs for Migration Assistant?

Hello! I have an old (mid 2013) Macbook Air and plan to get on one of the new M1 models soon. I plan to use Migration Assistant to bring my files and settings over from the old computer to the new one. I'd like to do this via a physical connection (I've heard that doing it by Wi-Fi is often unreliable) but am not exactly sure how to approach connecting the old Macbook (with USB-A ports) to the new on (with USB-C). Would connecting a male-male USB-A cable to the Apple USB-C to USB adapter (https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MJ1M2AM/A/usb-c-to-usb-adapter) work?
