Adobe Raw freezes and crashes even though have done clean install of Big Sur

I just did a clean install of Big Sur (no time machine). But my computer still is crashing when I try to edit photos in Camera Raw from a external HD. (It works fine when I edit from the same drive on my 2014 MacBook Air with Big Sur).

I am wondering what "-data" means? It seems to fill up my computer (I have only installed Photoshop, Bridge, and FCPX so far)

iMac 27″, macOS 11.1
