Activation lock is not working properly!!!

I bought a second hand ipad a while ago for my family and used it great. I erased it to give it away but forgot to sign out.

Now activation lock is not accepting my Apple ID I’ve used on the iPad. It’s asking for a Apple ID starting with “a”. I think it’s reverted back to an even older Apple ID from before I owned it. Now I have a annoying paper weight.

how can I reset activation lock? Or revert it back to the last Apple ID loaded on it???

iPad, iPadOS 14

If the previous owner didn't properly prepare the iPad for sale, it probably reverted back to their Apple ID. If you can't reach the previous owner whose ID is on the device and have them remove the device from their account, the device is worthless. Apple won't unlock it for you.
