CarPlay cuts out radio/sirius

I have an iPhone 12 pro that cuts the radio out whenever it connects to my car (BMW). I just got this phone and had an 11 before that that worked fine before the last update to iOS 14.

After that, whenever it would connect, it cuts out whatever else I was listening to. If I try to put the other source back on, it will only play for a few seconds before reverting once again to the phone. This didn’t happen before the update. It’s also occurring in my husbands F150 when plugged into the usb. That tells me it’s not either car or their software, but the new update.

I just want to be able to use my maps, but also listen to other things besides my phone. Is anyone else having this problem and know a solution?
