Why was I charged for the free 1 yr subscription? I just bought a new iPhone 12. I clicked the free trial. Confirmed my Apple is and was billed$8 and some change

The $8 and some change would not be for the one year subscription, as the regular monthly payment is $4.99/month (assuming USD). It would be a charge for something else.
