Audio/Video Sync Issues w iPhone 12?

Hi folks. I make simple Instagram song videos by recording video on my phone and simultaneously recording better audio in Logic. I've done 53 of them during Covid and have had zero issues. All done on with my X.

The way I have done it is, I drop the video into a project separating the audio, line up a "clap" waveform at the beginning or each audio track, and then export the movie with the better audio. Easy peasy. No problems.

On the 54th video and the first w my 12 Pro when I dropped the video into Logic, the audio from the phone itself is out of sync and drifts. I thought originally it was the recorded audio that was drifting but I believe it's right out of the gate. It's unusable for me now.

The X videos seem to all be at 29.97 and the 12 Pro is 30. But even when I change the project FPS to 30 it still drifts.

I feel like I'm losing my mind. I'm no video wizard but this was so easy until now.

Anyone see this or have any thoughts?

Here's an out of sync:

And an in sync if that matters to anyone:

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. A little more clarity on this:

I've now figured out that it's the phone audio already out of sync when when I drop the video into Logic. It is out of sync with it's own locked audio. I have to copy that track to unlock and nudge it to sync it up but I'm now syncing with my lips rather than a waveform. So you're right that it's no starting at the same point but something is wrong here and it's driving me nuts. That audio and video should be synced by design right? It always used to be.

Also, I took some video w an iphone 8 to make sure I wasn't crazy and it works like it should.

Appreciate the reply. As far as I know, they are lined up properly and rates match. It's worked with no hitches literally 50+ other times and only started when I got a new phone. I'm doing it the exact same way. Something is different, and certainly it could be user error, but I just can't tell what it is. I need to get another X from someone and try again that way to verify there isn't something else doing on. Thanks!
