Photo location

I have a large Photo library (about 19,000). I purchased a new Mac this year and notice the location information on most of my photos is missing. How can I restore the photo location? I am running 'Big Sur'

When you transferred the photos via the Ethernet cable to the new Mac, did you transfer the Photos Library or just dragged and dropped photos? If you dragged photos from the Photos Browser to transfer them, the location data may be missing. To transfer all metadata with the photos the best method is to copy the complete Photos Library.

Try Finding its Library Location:

When you click on the photo, hold down the “option” key. In the window that pops up, the Mac’s system library is identified by “System Photo Library” on the left said, and the storage location (path) is located below the entire list on the bottom left-corner of the window.
