Digital Audio Out from iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)?

I am so annoyed that Apple scrapped the Toslink audio out option on the new iMacs. I acquired one less than 6 months ago. I find the Bluetooth connection to my powered speakers to produce excellent sound, but the speakers drop the signal after a period of silence. Sometimes they don't reconnect readily. Is there really no way to get a wired digital audio signal out of this computer?

Thank you. This is helpful. I have the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, but, of course, it does not have the digital audio out. I found a place where someone recommended a Behringer U-Control UCA222, but it is out of stock everywhere. One site suggests April for it to come back in stock. Maybe it's a covid/pandemic-supply-chain problem. I'll keep searching for an affordable audio interface. Meanwhile, I may switch back to Bluetooth connection. I just don't like the latency with that type of connection. Thanks again.

Yes, yes there is !! you'd have to use a USB-C to USB-A or just a straight USB-A to B, maybe A ? cable.....then buy a USB DAC with digital audio out. Under Audio MIDI setup, set the Digital Audio output to USB. then connect your wired speakers to the output of the DAC. If you hold down the "Option" key on your keyboard, and click on the speaker icon at the top right of your screen, it will show you all available audio inputs and outputs....
