Activation lock

My son got gifted an iPhone and unfortunately has an activation lock which the previous owner can not access their email and doesn’t even remember the email address and password is there anyway the lock can be removed?

You can not remove the activation lock. You need to contact the previous owner. It is likely the device has been marked lost/stolen by its' previous owner.


You will need to get the previous owner to recover their previous Apple ID to remove the lock, otherwise, you'll want to look at recycling the phone.
