Stuck on apple logo/frozen

My iPhone 8 is stuck on the apple logo. Occasionally the apple logo disappears briefly and the screen is completely black. I tried doing a suggestion of pushing the volume button briefly then pushing the down volume button briefly and finally crashed in the side button. This had no effect. Does anybody have any suggestions?
